US Nationals 2018 fashion review: ladies short program
I realized that it’s been a while since my last costumes review. I think US Nationals it’s a perfect opportunity to get back to fashion.
What can I say? In the short program ladies did quite well in terms of style. There were no major fashion disasters, everyone looked good. Though I had a weird feeling that a lot of girls got their costumes in the same place. I wish there have been a bit more variety of ideas. As I said, all ladies had nice costumes, but I’d like to talk about ones I liked the most.
To avoid any kind of misunderstanding, I want to say – this review has nothing to do with programs, placement, scores, etc only costumes are important)
Unfortunately I haven’t found good photos of some participantes.
I love the color, I love the sleeves!) I think the idea of the back is interesting and pretty unusual, so I wish they have found a solution how to make this beige stripes less visible. As for the finishing, I like the neck section, but I don’t like this finishing on the side, I think it’s too much and ruins the proportion a bit.
Lovely, elegant dress. I love the purple + gold color combination. Not much finishing, but the dress is sparkling and done with taste.
Lady in red. Great little evening gown, with rich and sophisticated finishing. I really liked this dress from the front side, such a classic look! As for the back….well I don’t really get what the scope on her back supposed to mean)
I want to encourage this girl for her costume bravery. I’m always happy to see something different than another multi-layered chiffon skirt) This costume is made to shine and stand out and I like it! Gorgeous sparkling finishing. This jumpsuit makes really strong impression. The only problem is the neckline, it’s shape makes Starr’s shoulders look wider.
Maybe you wonder why I include Starr into this list but didn’t mention Polina Edmunds who also wore a jumpsuit. Because Polina also had a problem with proportions (just at the hips area). But Starr is a newcomer to competitions of such level while Polina is quite experienced girl in terms of ice fashion, so please don’t do such mistakes again.
I really liked this tender dress with delicate finishing and light ombre. Lovely color combination and design, I think we can bookmark this dress “Ideas for Moonlight sonata”.
Yeah my favorite color) The dress is very beautiful and I like the sophisticated finishing with rhinestones on the bodice. But together with an openwork laces it looks too heavy too pompous for this Chopin’s piece of music. I prefer the previous dress, the one Mirai wore last season.
I always appreciate age-appropriate dresses and when skater doesn’t hide under kilos of finishing in rhinestones. In this tender white dress Tessa looks so delicate and fresh and that’s exactly what this program needs.
I like vinous color and I like simplicity in costumes, so of course I couldn’t pass by Bradie’s dress for the short program. Laconic and elegante, almost no finishing, but the back is very lovely. I only wish she have thought of some more interesting hairdo.
Quite unexpected bronze medalist in my fashion review, but the dress is so lovely. Yeah ash rose is still a thing) It’s never too late to try it. The dress is tender and looks a bit “absent” which is quite popular trend on the runways now. This dress could have been higher in my ranking, but she spoiled the look with those tights…….and actually this shade isn’t the best for Amber.
Well, I have discussed this dress plenty of times last season. For example here and here. She decided not to change it and probably it was a right idea, because this dress is still a perfect match for this program and one of the best dresses of ladies event.
Sorry girls, but it’s hard to compete with diva Wagner in style. This dress is just gorgeous! Bright, chic, sexy, expensive look! Looking at this dress I can imagine it on a runway or cover of fashion magazine.
