Anastasia Skoptsova: I faced compulsive overeating, which later turned into bulimia. For a long time I did not realize that I had problems.
After the Junior World Championships, we tried a new cuisine, and I saw that the girls had brought a lot of pills with them. It was a laxative. After eating, they take pills, and the weight does not change.
At home after the World Championships, I got on the scales and saw plus one and a half kilograms. Then I went down to the pharmacy and bought pills. This is a very cheap drug, and the reaction to it is very painful: the body is depleted. The dose has to be increased each time, because a smaller dose stops working over time. I used to take up to forty pills at a time, which led to the damage of many organs.
I took the pills for almost nine months, but at some point I felt that I could not cope with it myself. I didn’t have energy to train. I understood that it harmed me, but I could not stop taking them.
As soon as you stop taking pills, you immediately gain weight, this entails condemnation from the fans. Even when I was thin, I saw negative comments. They wrote that I was a mare. You don’t think that you are, but when people who look from outside notice it, you get scared, because your career depends on it. And you agree to any methods.
I was lucky that my partner never told me about my excess weight, even after the offseason. We have a slight difference in height, it was not easy for him, but he has never said that I was fat, not even once.
I stopped taking pills only when I was examined before the surgery, the doctors called my mother into the office, and they asked me to leave, and only a year later I found out that they had told her about a possible fatal outcome, because some organs began to fail. After that, for about a year, my body could not perform basic functions on its own, and I am still on medication.
