Adelina Sotnikova: At that moment, when I realized that I had won the Olympics, the feeling was “Is this a dream ???” I could not fully believe that I had become an Olympic champion. That’s why there were tears of joy in my eyes, at that moment I could not control my emotions at all. Although I understood that cameras are everywhere, they follow your every step, but emotions went wild, in the good sense.
After all the procedures were completed (press conference, doping control), I was back to my room only at night. I lay in bed, looked at one point and could not believe it … I didn’t manage to fall asleep normally, because there were a lot of thoughts in my head. Emotions had already subsided, but I lay and thought: what if I open my eyes and it turns out that this day only begins, it was just a very bright dream.
She also spoke about her attitude to the Korean Yuna Kim, who took second place in Sochi.
Adelina Sotnikova: I treat her the same way I always used to treat her. She is a figure skater with a capital letter, she did everything possible for her country. I respect her. Despite the fact that there was hatred from her fans, there still is and I don’t know how much more it will continue. But they don’t understand, apparently it doesn’t bother me at all.
