Finlandia Trophy 2015 | free dances
Kaitlyn Weaver & Andrew Poje and Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker showed their free dances at ISU senior B event – Finlandia Trophy.
I want to share my impression about just those dances because we haven’t already seen them. So, it was a premiere.

Kaitlyn Weaver & Andrew Poje for sure were disappointed with bronze medal at Worlds 2015, so decided to be creative and show something new in their dances. I like the choreo but the dance looks a little bit not for them. It’s not their style and it won’t help them no matter what happens with tech. This dance need to be skated clean to make deep impression and the music is not helping. The music isn’t pushing them and doesn’t help to get the audience involved. I think it will be hard to win with such dance.
It’s good that they eventually have new lifts but they need a lot of work to make them look easy and smoothly done. And what happened with Andrew’s twizzles?

Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker need two solid dances to fight for the spot in US National team. And this free dance is exactly what they need. Even with mistake on the lift it leaves great impression. The story line, the characters everything is perfectly displayed with the means of choreography. You get involved into the dance from the first seconds. It’s a light and tender dance but with a deep meaning. A more mature dance than their previous one but still an appropriate choice for a young duo. They really can hope for a breakthrough with such dance, the question is only in technique.
