Adian Pitkeev confirmed the ending of his career in single skating:

I was finishing with the sport this year already in April or in March, but I haven’r made an official statement. Now I can say that I ended my career as a single skater. We tried to solve the problem with my back, I’ve been to a lot of doctors, but I can not jump at a serious level at all. The maximum that I, maybe, could do is a triple axel, and then I still would have to constantly recover. But this is not what you need in current single skating. I think I have a chronic problem. – Adian said.

It’s so sad to hear that! He’s only 19! I remeber seing Adian for the first time, then I thought that eventually in Russian men’s skating appeared a boy who has it all: jumps, good skating skills, great potential in PCS…….

Adian hasn’t announced about switching to the ice dance yet. But Alisa Lozko confirmed on her page at ask.ru that she’s going to skate with Pitkeev. Both haven’t said anything about their coach yet. So I guess either they want to try first and see how it goes and then make an announcement or there’s no full agreement of all parties and it’s nothing to announce yet.

what’s more imporant is whether you have dancy qualities to begin with. Joti Polizoakis made the switch only 2 years ago but he’s doing great. However, you can see in old videos that he is a natural dancer. Stavitskaya never really had the characteristics to be a dancer (her skating was stiff).

Do you see dancing qualities in Adian or Alisa?

      • Gy says:

I see some in Adian. Alisa not so much.

Btw, what do I mean by danciness? I mean, loose limbs, limber, soft knees.

        • FS Gossips says:

“Btw, what do I mean by danciness? I mean, loose limbs, limber, soft knees.”
In addition to soft knees and good edges – sense of rhythm, musicality, good work of an upper body, performer qualities.

How does he expect to lift Alisa with a bad back? She’s not going to be impressed if he drops her on her head!

    • skating fan says:

We don’t know all details about his back. Maybe he is unable to do the quads and triple axel? He doesn’t state that he is unable to do the triples and I suppose that the fact that he is unable to jump quads doesn’t mean that he is unable to do the lifts. Maybe quads trigger a chronic injury in his back?

    • FS Gossips says:

Doing jumps and lifting someone are quite different types of loads for the back. Maybe lifts are not that harmful in his situation and Alisa is quite small and fragile.

Ugh, this is so sad! I spotted him back on the 2015 Grand Prix and couldn’t wait to see him keep moving up, but then the injury came :(
As for ice dance, he seems a little small for it; in person he looks like a skinny little kid…but I suppose not all ice dancers are as tall as Andrew Poje, and Alisa is small too so maybe it’ll work. I really hope so!

It’s not his height or weight that makes me sceptical about the prospects of this partnership. Rather his age and absence of professional coach.

      • skating fan says:

Why his age? He is quite young and talented

        • FS Gossips says:

Because of the muscle memory. The younger you are the easier it’s to learn something new. There’s a prejudice that ice dance is the easiest discipline but it’s no longer like that, ice dance requires many additional and skills for single skaters. Look at Maria Stavitskaya. When she was a single skater it seemed that she has good skating skills, but turned out it wasn’t enough for ice dance. Her partner has experience in ice dance but it didn’t help them much. So what are the chancef ror two singles who have no experience in ice dance?
