In a heartfelt update on his Instagram page, Michael Parsons, recently opened up about their difficult decision to withdraw from the free dance event at the Grand Prix of China. During the rhythm dance, Parsons suffered an injury to his pelvis, which ultimately forced the team to make the tough call to not compete in the final portion of the competition.

“Now that I’ve taken some time, I wanted to update you all,” Parsons shared on social media. “During the rhythm dance at Cup of China, I suffered an injury to my pelvis. The team and I were hoping that by the time we got on for the FD event, I would have recovered enough to skate. Unfortunately that did not happen, and although Caroline and I so badly wanted to perform our free dance and show you all the work we’ve been putting in, the best decision was to withdraw.”

For Parsons, this marks the first withdrawal in his competitive career – and it wasn’t easy emotionally. “This is the first time in my career I’ve dealt with a withdrawal, and for lack of a better phrase, it sucks. I’m so disappointed that we couldn’t skate the FD, and I want to apologize to everyone, especially those who came to Chongqing in person.”

Despite the setback, Parsons expressed gratitude for the fans, volunteers, and athletes that made the event special, and the duo also acknowledged their pride in having competed at Cup of China for the third consecutive year.

Parsons shared a positive update on his recovery, saying, “I’ve been recovering well this week and training hard with an incredible team around me. I can’t wait to take the ice at NHK Trophy. See you all soon.”

Green and Parsons are the most underrated underscored dance teams. Their 2022 free is still on of my favorites.
