Former Russian skater Anastasiia Gubanova has been representing Georgia since the 2021/22 season. She trains in St. Petersburg under the guidance of Evgeni Rukavitsin.
Anastasiia Gubanova: Of course, the best moment of today’s performance is the very end of the program, when I did all the elements, and this feeling that I coped, well, tears of joy appear.
These competitions are the most difficult this season – morally. So it was hard for me to skate today. But I’m glad it worked out. At the end, I fell to my knees from devastation and joy.
I really like this program. I have wanted to skate to Indian music for a very long time, and I am glad that I have such a chance. I enjoy the program. In general, music takes a large place in my life – I often dance at home, it cheers me up.
I am very happy to represent Georgia. I really like this country, architecture, culture, it’s very beautiful there. I was in Tbilisi before the start of the season, the food is so delicious there! I tried everything.
My group in St. Petersburg is my second family. The guys supported me a lot. And we had many sincere conversations with Dmitri Aliev, he is the European champion after all and he shared his experience with me, which I used. I want to thank him for his support. And to my whole group too.
