In their statement Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean Luc Baker said that it was in their best interest to prioritize their mental and physical health rather than competing at Nationals. But they intend to petition for a spot on the 2023 World Championships team.

“Over the past 18 months, our team has dealt with significant physical injuries that have led to challenges in our mental health and we feel it is in our best interest to prioritize this currently. ” said the athletes.
