“When will be a triple axel? It’s only been a month since I was injured. The post-Olympic season is not about faster, higher, stronger.” Valieva about her performance in the short program at the Russian Grand Prix
Kamila Valieva about her performance in the short program at the Russian Grand Prix, absence of triple axel and doping case.
Valieva scored 83.92 points and takes first place after the short program. She did a double axel, a triple flip and a combination of a triple lutz – a triple toe loop.
Kamila Valieva: I’m happy with my performance. It was hard because of the adrenaline. It’s cool that I’m here in the arena. Haven’t competed in a long time.
When will be a triple axel? It’s only been a month since I was injured. I am glad that I do a quadruple toe loop in training. We need to move slowly, health is more important. Without haste. The post-Olympic season is not about faster, higher, stronger.
What about health? More than three months have passed since the injury. Everything is slowly getting back to normal.
In the free program, I tell my story. It didn’t go anywhere. Outwardly, everything is fine, but emotions have not gone away. The short program is something native, familiar. It’s comfortable to skate.
I will not assess the level of competition in this competitions.
Why did I change a dress for a short program? I didn’t like that dress. Well I’m a girl. Does it look like last year’s? That was more lilac, and this is purple.
I thought about changing the word encoded in the program. Wait and see in Kazan.
For the Olympic season, we took a theme that is familiar. Now it’s a little different – step sequence to a fast music. I want new images. Everything will be all. I just need time.
Valieva also refused to comment on the situation with the doping investigation against her.
“I won’t say anything about it,” Valieva told reporters after winning the short program at the first stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Moscow.
