Ilia Averbukh reacted to the statement of the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach about suspension of Russian athletes.

Today, at the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Seoul, Bach said that Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be punished for political reasons, but called on international federations to continue not to let these national teams compete.
Ilia Averbukh: There was hope that we would see our guys at the World Figure Skating Championships. The extension of sanctions is unfair, sad and insulting. In principle, it seems to me that everyone was already mentally prepared for the fact that our suspension would be extended.
