Elena Vaytsekhovskaya: For sure, slightly more thoughtful information support would only benefit the situation with Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin – this is the first thing that comes to mind when reading the post (I quote): “Since we could not issue the documents allowing Gleb to legally leave the country, we, unfortunately, will not be able to come to the test skates of the national team.”

Firstly, leaving the United States, you do not need to go through passport control at all and show someone the visas in your passport. This means that the phrase should be read like this: “Forgive us, dear fans and bosses, but if we leave the United States, then the partner will no longer be able to come back. And that doesn’t suit us in any way.”

In this regard, there is a “second”. Why in the current situation do the members of the Russian national team, whom the country continues to finance, need the opportunity to stay in the United States at all costs?

And this is not a question for the American Figure Skating Federation.

They’d be more than happy to come, if only. One sentence says it all. Patriots of all countries, please, let Gleb just skate. He may not be ready for war.

Hat down to these great athletes for the formidable statement. No one hates Russia here. No one hates the West. The current reality is what it is. One sentence says it all. Good luck to you, Diana&Gleb. You surely have better things to do.

  3. No war says:

Eteri has never said she hates the ‘West’. Some other big guys is Russia are saying that while their families, lovers and money are in the West.

  4. No war says:

In this case I would agree with Diana/Gleb that opportunity to stay legally in US is more important than the test skates, especially this season… The guys need to do what is right for them;)

  5. Dasha says:

Russians skaters and coaches hate the West SO MUCH that they flee their country, switch their federations, join new American clubs and would love to compete with America’s flag. All while being funded with Russian money. Eteri you’re so full of shit. You have no honor.
