According to Match TV, the International Skating Union (ISU) may cancel the sixth stage of the 2022/23 Grand Prix series.

In March, Match TV reported that ISU would move the Grand Prix stages from Russia (due to events in Ukraine) and China (due to covid restrictions). Later, this information was officially confirmed. According to information that Match TV has, the Russian stage will be hosted by Finland, which should be officially announced soon.

However, there are still no applicants for the Chinese stage, which was the last (sixth) on the calendar. One of the sources interviewed by Match TV noted that the ISU expected that the new president of the organization, Jae Yel Kim, who is the son-in-law of the chairman of the Samsung Group, will contribute to resolving the issue. Members of the ISU suggested that he could help move the stage to South Korea, but at the moment, Jae Yel Kim cannot solve this problem from a financial point of view.

According to information that Match TV have, if a candidate for the event is not found in the near future, it will most likely be cancelled. The final decision on this issue should be announced on 14 July.
