The decision was made by secret ballot. The proposal of the Ukrainian side (not only Ukraine by the way proposed to ban the Russian deligation, also Poland, Finland, Canada – ed. fs-gossips) wasn’t supported by 55 members of Congress, 48 people supported, 13 abstained from voting. To ban Russian representatives from participation in the congress, at least 2/3 of the members had to support the proposal.

Alexander Lakernik plans to be re-elected to the post of ISU vice president, he was elected to this position in 2016 and re-elected in 2018. Yulia Andreeva (single and pair skating), Uliana Chirkova (synchronized skating) from Russia will apply for membership in the technical committee. Alexander Kibalko intends to be re-elected to the skating technical committee, Andrei Nefyodov to the short track technical committee.

Yesterday, June 5, the ISU Council decided not to raise the issue of the exclusion of the Russian delegation from participation in the congress, guided by the fact that the exclusion of the Belarusian Skating Union, the Russian Skating Union and the Russian Figure Skating Federation from participating in the congress or the exclusion of their members from participation in congressional elections can be challenged in court.
