According to Match TV, Russian figure skaters, coaches and choreographers will not be nominated for the International Skating Union (ISU) awards at the end of the Olympic season due to the situation in Ukraine.

This decision was made by the leadership of the ISU.

The ISU Skating Awards are due to take place this summer in an online format. Awards will be presented in seven categories: “Most Valuable Skater”, “Best Costume”, “Best Entertainment Program”, “Best Newcomer”, “Best Choreographer”, “Best Coach” and “Lifetime Achievement”.

Maxim Trankov: It’s a young award. I do not think that the ISU Skating Awards are some kind of cool award. We had disputes with one of the creators of this award, Ari Zakarian, whether it was needed or not. If I never have this award, I will not be very upset. The titles of world champions and so on are more important than this award. I don’t fully undestand this award.

Tamara Moskvina: I take all this with indignation. Because one thing is the situation in Ukraine, another thing is achievements in sports. These are completely different areas, and, in my opinion, it is wrong to mix it up.

Tatiana Tarasova: I don’t even understand why the ISU is doing this. It is not clear why our athletes should be banned from everything? Why don’t they like us so much? We win everything in figure skating throughout our lives, and this season is no exception. Russia is moving figure skating forward. ISU thinks we’ll stop skating, right? They don’t know us, we won’t stop, we’ll work even better. As we used to beat them, so we will continue beating them – no matter whether they will give us an award or not. We’ll still win!

It is so desgusting to see that people which dare to call themselves humans take the side of the invaders. They are the scum of the Earth.

  2. Axel says:

purge the invaders and arrogant cheaters and then you can come back

  3. John Denton says:

“We will beat them..We will always win!”…of course you will…It’s been the cheating of the “Eastern Bloc” Countries for decades the reason the Soviets “always win”!,, There are many articles about it…LOOK IT UP!!

well.. it seems Carolina is angry! its understandable! what s happening is awful! she says 636 civilians died and unless you are a monster, thats not acceptable! does carolina know that somalia yemen and damascus were bomb last week? does she know how many civilians died in irak or palestina? does she know that 14 000 civilians died in the donbas region murdered by the ukrainian goverment?… did she also go against israeli or american or ukrainian athletes whose goverments did those kilings? Carolina is a hipocryte! she only dares to say this because is the ofittial mass media politics were she lives. Doing catharsis with some athletes that are not related to politics is easy! no personal cost ! so carolina is also a coward! she would never stand against her goverment for all and any civilians because that would have a personal cost! cowards and hipocrytes is the reason wars exist

You are selfish. Yes most of us get that it is not athletes fault for Ukraine. It’s the point of severing off Russia so that it’s people will strike back, at Putin, if they are mad enough about their banning from sports, technology, trade….. it’s bigger picture. Even Germany was banned from Olympics for a number of years following ww2. Grow up! And look at bigger picture.

In less than three weeks, many of Ukraine’s apartment buildings — once warm homes to families and pets — have become impossible to live in. Infrastructure that once served millions of residents has become inoperable, unusable. City centers once full of shoppers have been reduced to rubble. Hospitals meant to provide care and sanctuary have become scenes of destruction.

Moscow’s shelling of civilians despite agreements for cease-fires and humanitarian corridors has sparked international outrage. On Wednesday, a maternity hospital in Mariupol — a strategically important city — was bombed, killing at least four people, including a pregnant woman. Children and medical workers were among more than a dozen injured.

Some of the buildings hit are in residential areas, where analysts have noted that there are no military targets nearby. Strikes on houses or apartment buildings often render the structure unlivable, leaving many displaced.

Kharkiv has been crushed by the war. Half of its population has fled. Damage to administrative buildings and public squares targeted in Ukraine’s second-largest city has not been contained to those areas.

Civilian infrastructure including power plants, radio towers and bridges have also been destroyed in the war. The impact of such attacks could have significant, long lasting repercussions.

Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city and home to 1.4 million people, has been devastated by Russian shelling.

The Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights said Monday that a high-ranking national police official reported that 212 civilians had been killed in all of the Kharkiv region as of Sunday evening.

The strikes have destroyed residences, art museums, libraries and government buildings in a city known for its architecture.

Photos of Kharkiv show stately buildings with broken windows, offices strewn with debris, and vehicles reduced to little more than their frames — signs of the escalating toll that the war is having on civilians and infrastructure.

In all, 636 civilians have been killed in Ukraine and 1,125 injured since Russia began its invasion Feb. 24, the U.N. human rights office reported. The agency acknowledged that the actual figures probably are “considerably higher,” especially in the Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine and the Donetsk region in the east.

Most of the civilian casualties recorded were caused by the use of explosive weapons, including shelling from heavy artillery and rocket systems, and missile and airstrikes, causing wide impact to both infrastructure and human life, the agency said.

A convoy of trucks packed with food and medicine and bound for the besieged city of Mariupol was again turned away by fierce fighting on Monday, the latest attempt to deliver crucial supplies to a place surrounded by Russian troops.

The humanitarian caravan, which would also afford suffering residents their best chance yet to evacuate, remained stalled about 50 miles southeast of Mariupol, near Berdyansk, the Mariupol City Council said in a statement Monday. The parade of vehicles was originally slated to arrive Sunday afternoon, but Russian forces have repeatedly thwarted its journey and violated a cease-fire agreement, the city council said, noting that Mariupol’s 400,000 residents desperately need help.

“Tomorrow morning will be a new attempt,” the council’s statement said.

Mariupol, a strategically important port city, has been the site of some of Russia’s most brutal shelling since the invasion began. Images from the city, which has been cut off from water and electricity for days, show bombed-out homes, apartment buildings and hospitals.

“The occupation forces, without reason, are blocking in Berdyansk needed food and medicine for our people, in the city that they are mercilessly destroying,” Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said in a video address Monday.

  9. Claire Kerven says:

Ridiculous decision to keep Russian skaters out of the World’s competition. So sorry. I did hear that Russia threatened not to bring back an American astronaut! Also idiotic.

  10. gandolfo says:

dont worry! this wont last for ever! the hipocrites will realize that sports and politics shouldnt mix and no one ever forbid their athletes for the mass kilings in the middle east! figure skating without russia is like fooball without brazil argentine germany and italy! you can still play it , but its worthless
