“I haven’t seen such cynicism for a long time. Eteri Tutberidze, as a reasonable person, did everything absolutely right.” Alexander Zhulin on his appeal to Thomas Bach

Earlier, Zhulin addressed an open letter to the head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, in which, among other things, he was indignant at the reaction of the functionary to the behavior of the coach Eteri Tutberidze after Kamila Valieva’s free program. Tutberidze, after the performance of the skater, asked her to explain her mistakes. After that, Bach said at a press conference that the coaches were cold towards Valieva.
Alexander Zhulin: I wrote this letter because it seemed to me that at least he must see it all. I haven’t seen such cynicism for a long time, to remove a girl so harshly. And then just cynically say that he was so worried about her performance when she began to fall, and she had neither moral nor physical strength. And then he suddenly became indignant at how harsh Eteri Georgievna accepted her. And Eteri Georgievna, as a reasonable person, did everything absolutely right. Because if she said: “You are my little one, come here, my bunny,” they would fill the ice with their tears. And so she reacted, as a coach should react to the mistakes of his athlete, who, by the way, will skate for another 4 years. I hope so. The world has never seen such a brilliant girl. She’s just phenomenal.
