Anna Shcherbakova: There is no understanding yet, now I feel only joy and relief. After finishing the program, I realized that I did the maximum in the right place at the right time. I did it, and at that moment I felt that I had achieved my goal and breathed a sigh of relief. I felt joy. Nothing has changed since then.

When they tell me that I am an Olympic champion, I still can’t believe that this is about me. It takes time to realize.

There was no courage, from each element – from one to another – I was very concentrated. I didn’t let myself relax for a second. I was most worried about the first two jumps – quads, and you can never relax before the lutz-loop combination. But after that comes the feeling that I have already done this program.

I have never set an Olympic gold medal as my goal in my sports career, I am absolutely honest. I had a difficult, interesting path, ups and downs, I went step by step and never ran ahead. Even now, going to the competitions, I did not think about any place, or about winning. I went to show myself, my best skating. And incredible happiness that I showed it at the right time.

I did not watch the performances of Sasha and Kamila. For now, I probably don’t have anything to say. If I need to, I will personally tell them everything.
