Honored coach of Russia in figure skating Eteri Tutberidze expressed confidence in the innocence of athlete Kamila Valieva, who is accused of using illegal substances.
On Friday, the International Doping Testing Agency (ITA) reported that Valieva’s doping test, taken in December last year, contained the banned substance trimetazidine.

For us, this is not a theorem, but an axiom, it does not need to be proved. I understand that there is some protocol of actions that cannot be skipped. We have not abandoned the athlete in any case, we are with our athletes in trouble and in joy to the end.
It is not clear why the athlete with dubious doping on December 25 was admitted to the Olympic Games. Either this is a fatal coincidence, or this is a very well-planned action – I don’t know, even both. I hope our leaders will not abandon us and defend our rights and prove our innocence.
Now our entire team is frozen in anticipation of a decision regarding Kamila Valieva. We are afraid of any statements, not to violate, not to harm. I don’t know who decides what, but we really hope that justice will prevail, – Tutberidze told Russian TV channels.
On February 8, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) automatically imposed a temporary suspension on Valiyeva. The following day, the RUSADA disciplinary committee overturned this decision, allowing the 15-year-old athlete to continue participating in the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
WADA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have appealed the RUSADA committee’s decision to lift Valieva’s suspension to the CAS. The decision whether Valieva will be able to compete in individual competitions at the 2022 Games should be made on Saturday.

The ladies on that team are such remarkable athletes/skaters, none needs a chemical advantage. This will be a perfect opportunity ultimately, to show the world how truly amazing this Russian team is.
