There was information that the team event could go without substitutions. What do you think about it?
Evgenia Medvedeva: I don’t relate to this and, probably, I have no right to discuss it. My role is to observe from the outside, to do my job, I’m sure that everything will work out in the best way for the athletes and the federation.
What are your expectations from the women’s competitions? We, probably, will dominate there?
Evgenia Medvedeva: Let’s pray for this. I have the highest expectations from the event. I want to wish the girls good luck. They have already done a great job, and there is still a lot of work ahead. Now they are at the training camp in Krasnoyarsk, the Olympic Games have begun, so I wish all the athletes patience and, most importantly, health.
Maybe you will make some small medal prediction?
Evgenia Medvedeva: You know, I remember myself before the Olympics in Pyeongchang, when they made medal predictions, and this is not the most pleasant feeling when they decide for you who will be the first, second, third. Therefore, I will refrain and just will worry about everyone.
How different are your feelings now from when you were an athlete? Excitement, worries. Maybe things feel different now?
Evgenia Medvedeva: Then I had some kind of anxious excitement, because my fate was being decided. Now it’s a little different. The Olympics in Beijing is special, it’s held in such situation in the world. I’m a little worried – we still don’t quite understand how everything will look like.
But when I tried on the Olympic equipment, it felt like before the Olympics in 2018. In some moments there are similar sensations.
