Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: The short program will be very sensual. I really like it, this is the style that suits me. It will be Oblivion performed by Japanese singer Misia.
The free program is also my love. Even in advance, before the Olympic season, I knew what program I wanted – not music, but style, because I really like the East. And I decided to talk with Alexei Nikolaevich in advance whether he likes this idea.
Nikita Mikhailov found very cool music, composed it, and I just enjoy it when I skate. These motives are insanely close to me, I really like it. Hopefully, when I show this program, the audience and all the representatives of figure skating will also appreciate it. Surprisingly, the coach immediately agreed, and we decided that we should do it.
The choreographer of the short program is Ilia Averbukh. It’s incredibly easy to work with him, we are “on the same wavelength”, we have similar ideas. When we work on a program, we understand each other – he says one thing, and I pick up, I can do some steps. He is a very pleasant person, I think this is also important – when a person is not only a good choreographer, but also a good, kind person.
Of course, I am working on preserving the triple axel, on consistency. But it is important not only to preserve the axel, but also that all elements are performed well. So that the program is with good components, good spins, so that it is really pleasant to watch it from start to finish.
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva also told whose programs she likes in men’s skating.
Who is the best single skater of all time?
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: This is a very serious question. I can’t answer it exactly, because I haven’t yet found a skater who would be ideal in technique, ideal in skating, in spins.
But at the moment, I like Nathan Chen’s free programs the most. And Yuzuru Hanyu’s short program from the past season. I can’t single out which one is better. I like Chen, because he is so modern, a little rebellious. Probably, he is closer to me in spirit.
Now Nathan Chen is a person who has not lost a single competition in the last 3 years I guess. But I can’t name a skater whom I would call the best skater or my favorite figure skater.
