Maxim Trankov commented on the news that he, together with Eteri Tutberidze, will prepare two-time European champions in pair skating Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov for the Olympic season.

Maxim Trankov: The coaching staff of Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze – Daniil Gleikhengauz and Sergei Dudakov will join the preparation of Tarasova – Morozov. Why did it happen? We needed a coaching staff. At the moment, Eteri Georgievna’s is the best. Therefore, the guys asked these coaches. Morozov is already 28 years old, Tarasova is 26, they make their own decisions, because they are not juniors. All training systems and all details are under discussion. The season has just ended. According to the rules, all transfers are allowed only in May, and now it is April. So, I cannot say anything more concrete yet.
Trankov also commented on the possible continuation of their work with Marina Zueva. Previously Trankov announced that in May the pair plans to go to the United States to train with Zueva.
Maxim Trankov: We’re in a state of negotiations. Of course, we did not refuse (from work with Zueva). This has nothing to do with work, but with the situation in the world and with the opportunity to be in America now. It’s just circumstance. The initiative (of changes) comes more from the athletes, not from me, so you need to ask them.
In any case, the guys need to go to the USA, they have rented housing there, everyday issues will need to be resolved.

Corona makes the training situation abroad difficult. Zuewa did a great work, but in my opinion it is the right decision. But: Tutberidse must have more space, the adults are coached with childrens, she has many single scaters. In my opinion it was a right decision. The jumps must be better. Eteri and her team are good coaches. The pair elements can do Trankow and perhaps also Zeuwa- the jumps and new ideas this will be the task of Eteri. And for her it is a new challenge- she will do everything to have succsess. This pair has great abilities and it is a great pity if they could not get a medal- and not only bronze. I wish them the best.
