Kamila Valieva about her performance in the short program at the Russian Nationals 2021 and triple axel.
Kamila Valieva: I am very glad that I came to Chelyabinsk, last year I performed here. I go on the ice, and some memories from last year appear. And somehow there’s such a home atmosfeer.
With the axel, a little uncertainty occurred on the entry. We try to skate the program to the end, even if the axel does not work out, so further everything went as planned. In the free program, I set myself up for not doubting myself.
Valieva also answered the question whether she had read what they write in social networks about her free program “Bolero”.
Kamila Valieva: I don’t read social networks and generally nothing but books.

About triple axel
Kamila Valieva: As soon as I approached the axel, I doubted a little and didn’t push strong enough. This is most likely because of my uncertainty. Overcome it … Just fight this uncertainty and go do it.
I also went on the lutz-toe loop unconfident, and then I thought: why should I be unconfident? And went to do it instead of falling.
I think the axel will always come in handy – why not make it at the Russian Nationals? If we all skate the free program cleanly, then the short program can decide the fate of the podium.
