Evgeni Plushenko: It was her own choice. If an athlete wants, why not?
I have the opportunity (to train Kostornaia), and I’m ready for it. She was not ready for the test skates, we trained together for only a month. Before that, she lost all her shape – for three weeks she hadn’t trained in her former group. They didn’t want to let her go.
So a lot of time was wasted, and we had to prepare the program a month before the test skates and get Alena in shape. She did a great job.
Now we are restoring the triple axel, working on a free program, polish the short one and make costumes.

Alena Kostornaia about her reasons to leave Tutberidze’s group
Alena Kostornaia: There were some problems. Athletes like me, Anna (Shcherbakova) and Kamila (Valieva) cannot train with children born in 2010. They need to be told that older girls will not be attentive. My proposals were not accepted.
So I called Sergei Alexandrovich (Rozanov), he told me to think twice before changing coaches, but he helped me with the transfer.
I also did not like the program (choreographed in Tutberidze’s group), which I have told more than once. I really like my new program, it suits me very much, the lyrics correspond to what is happening in my life.
Now I feel happy, pleased and ready to train for new victories and goals.
