Alena Kostornaia: First I need to deal with the axels, then start talking about quads

Alena Kostornaia commented on her victory at NHK Trophy 2019.

Alena: I’m glad that I was able to skate the programs quite cleanly. It could have been better, but, of course, this is a good result. I hope that next time I will be able to show the short program even better, to skate my free program clean and surpass 240 points. This wasn’t the cleanest skate of the free program this season, but not the worst, despite the triple axel.

I will continue to work, try my best, improving for every competitions. The first season is not very difficult. I have fans, but fewer than more experienced athletes.

I have not thought about quadruples yet, this is a big responsibility. First I need to deal with the axels, then start talking about quads. But of course I want to try.

I can’t say what are our strengths (athletes of the Tutberidze’s group). In general, we all try to skate clean, we have complex elements. I think we are almost on equals.
