Tatiana Tarasova: Girls can’t do quads in the short program, but the progress can’t be stopped this way

Tatiana Tarasova and Ilia Averbukh commented on Alexandra Trusova’s performance with two world records at Ondrej Nepela Memorial 2019.

Tatiana Tarasova: Congratulations to all the coaching team with outstanding results. Sasha is a wonderful girl, and she hasn’t done everything yet, because for some reason girls can’t do quadruple jumps in the short program, but men can. I don’t see any logic in this “not allowed”, remove this “not”, and, I think, the result will be close to three hundred (points). But they can’t stop the process this way. Once again I congratulate her and all her friends and teammates from whom she learned, who all came from this group.

Ilia Averbukh: Sasha showed phenomenal performances already at the test skates, she is one of the contenders for the gold at the World Championships. Trusova is now in the golden age, demonstrates fantastic complexity. This season, she improved in performing skills, in programs. There are all prerequisites that this season will be the season of Sasha Trusova.

Only Anna Scherbakova can compete with her in complexity of the programs. Regarding presentation of the program, Alina Zagitova performed brilliantly at the test skates, if she skates the program cleanly, she will receive very high PCS. Evgenia Medvedeva received high scores for PCS at the preliminary competitions. But no PCS will help you to beat quad jumps, you need to be realistic, even one such jump beats all these things, and three quadruples – just “Bravo!” to Sasha.
