Nina Mozer: Ksenia Stolbova had a bad landing form a flip throw and twisted her ankle
Nina Mozer about Ksenia Stolbova’s injury and next Olympic cycle in pair skating:
At training, Ksenia had a bad landing form a flip throw and twisted her ankle. Doctors diagnosed torn ligaments. Ksenia immediately got a cast for two weeks. When the cast is removed, Ksyusha will undergo a second examination, after which the doctors will tell when she can resume training.
I was at the Olympics in Korea, when Ksyusha and Fedor started training. After the break and the stress experienced, the guys were determined, they wanted to start working quickly. And, apparently, this excessive desire and unnecessary haste let them down.
It is very difficult to achieve results in my discipline. Now it is very important to understand how to prepare for the next Olympic Games in China, in a country where pair skating is the strongest figure skating discipline. No one of the current Chinese athletes quit after these Games, we will still have to compete with them, and this will be a hard battle.
