Ivan Bukin wrote an open letter to the members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the head of the organization Thomas Bach with a request to reconsider the decision on his non-admission to the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang:
My name is Ivan Bukin. I am a member of the Russian national figure skating team and the son of the Olympic champion in ice dancing Andrei Bukin, who skated with Natalia Bestemianova. My mother is also a former skater.
I grew up in a sports family and from the very childhood I learned that in sport everything can be achieved only by your own work, not by behind-the-scenes games or forbidden medical preparations.
I’ve been doing figure skating for many years. I have never been involved in any doping scandal. None of my dope tests were positive. And I do not understand why a few weeks before the Olympic Games I’m suspended from participating in the Olympics without explanation of any reasons.
The Games in Korea should have became the first in my sports career. My partner Alexandra Stepanova and I have been going to this for many years. We worked intensively and this season according to the sporting principle were selected to the Olympic team of our country. Last week we became the third at the European Championships in Moscow.
Participation in the Olympic Games has always been my cherished dream, and I can not understand and agree with the absence of my name on the list of invited to the Games in Pyeongchang.
I hope that this decision will be revised, giving me the opportunity to participate in the 2018 Olympic Games.

WADA logic is very simple – being Russian is a dope itself. What happening in Olympic sport right now is just a part of Russophobia.
I do not think all Russian Olympians should be punished for the errors of those in the past. At least evaluate them on an individual basis with regarding to drugs, etc.
I really hope he gets cleared to compete! I love their sit-spin twizzles; their free dance is lovely.
The decision to ban Russian athletes from Olympics without any explanation is absolutely disgaceful.If those athletes did something wrong they should tell us and them what that was and justify their decision. Or they just ban people randomly because they can?
