Ilia Averbukh: We can dream about the Russian pedestal at the Olympics
Ilia Averbukh about Russian ladies’ results at Grand-prix Final 2017.
I look with great optimism at the Olympic Games. The best of women’s skating were at the Grand Prix Final. We showed that we’re very competitive, and we still have Zhenya Medvedeva. Ideally, we can dream about the whole Russian pedestal at the Olympic Games.- Averbukh said
According to him, if Medvedeva participated in the Final, the whole pedestal would be Russian:
Zhenya beat everyone at the Grand Prix series, she was the first in ranking, but she had to skip the Final because of an injury. I know that she is preparing, training and at the European Championships she will defend her position of a world leader with a vengeance.
As for the performance, I really want to congratulate Alina, because yesterday’s junior came and immediately won the Grand Prix Final, and Maria, because her performance at the moment was best in her life. She has never skated like this, it’s her absolute record, so no doubt that she deserved the second place.
So does it mean that Evgenia made a decision to skip the Russian Nationals?
