Kavaguti Smirnov are bringing back their old programs

June 13 Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov held a master class in Igora. There they announced their programs for the season 2016-2017.

As Alexander predicted in an interview they decided to return to their old programs. So, SP will be to All Alone by Joe Satriani (they skated it in season 2011-2012):

For the free program they choose Clair de lune by Debussy:

Both programs are choreographed by Peter Tchernyshev.

I liked this free program a lot….but they have already kept it for two years…and now again? It’s difficult to predict how judges will take it….but of course the main thing is health.

    Alexander cut his hair!
I like the programs, though I would really like to see something new. They will really have to do something good on the technical side to make it fresh and keep up with dominant pairs like D/R, S/K, and S/H. #TwoQuads

Yes, I also wish they have done at least one new program. They’re one of those rare pairs who show such mature skating and whose programs aren’t just a set of elements! Hope they’re saving some really great ideas for Olympics. But with two quad throws they will have to change the layout of the FP…so it won’t be just the same program. They’ll have to make some changes. Interesting, are they going to sew new costumes?

Meagan and Eric and Ksenia and Fedor really rock the technical side of things, but nothing competes with Yuko and Alexander’s choreography. I really want to see something awesome out of them – they are my Olympic bronze medal pick.
