Georgian pair skaters Anastasia Metelkina and Luka Berulava praised Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara’s comeback and high scores at the 2026 Olympics, emphasizing that perseverance after setbacks is key to success. Here’s a translation.
The gold went to Japan’s Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara (with a total of 231.24 points and a world record 158.13 in the free skate). The bronze was claimed by Germany’s Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin.
“I didn’t see the skate myself, but I heard the scores were very high. I want to say they deserved it. They worked hard for this and made a great comeback after the short program. Everyone has falls. But when you pick yourself up after a fall and move forward, that’s really impressive,” said Berulava.
“We also had a European Championships where we were eighth or ninth after the short program, but ended up third. Anything is possible. You should never give up,” added Metelkina.
