It was previously reported that the International Skating Union (ISU) may prohibit figure skaters and coaches from publicly criticizing judging in figure skating.
“A ban on criticism of judges by skaters and coaches? But you can criticize literally everyone – leaders, governments, parties, outstanding artists. All people. So, are judges not people? Is judging not a profession?
What kind of people are they, and if they do something unfair, why can’t we talk about it?
And what, after working 70 years in figure skating and raising so many (Olympic) champions, I don’t have the right to speak about it? Do we understand less than they do? Are we idiots, and they’re so smart, educated, talented, and absolutely blameless?
Every person has the right to express their opinion. Every person living on planet Earth. And the ISU should know this,” Tarasova said.
