Japanese pair skater Yuna Nagaoka expresses gratitude for support, reflects on her Olympic journey, and vows to return in four years aiming for a medal. Here’s a translation.

“Thank you so much for all your warm support.

About two and a half years ago, I started pair figure skating with the goal of competing at the Milano Olympics.

Each season, I experienced many joys and setbacks, gradually growing along the way. At one point, I missed out on qualifying for the Olympics, but at the final Olympic qualifying event last September, we secured Japan’s second pair spot, and I was able to stand on this stage.

My performance at my first Olympics was not what I had envisioned.

Even so, I am truly happy and proud to have walked this path together with Sumi-kun, supported by so many people along the way.

Also, the time spent performing amid warm cheers and loud applause at the Olympic venue was an irreplaceably happy moment.

Four years from now, I will definitely return to this stage. And, hand in hand with Sumi-kun, we will continue to grow step by step so that we can win a medal.

Once again, I want to thank everyone who came all the way to Italy to cheer us on, everyone who supported us through streaming, everyone who sent messages, and everyone who supported us in any way.

Thank you so much.

Please continue to support us in the future.”
