French figure skater Adam Siao Him Fa expressed deep disappointment and frustration after falling from third place to seventh in the men’s individual event at the 2026 Winter Olympics due to a disappointing performance in the free skate. Here’s a translation of their comments posted on L’Equipe.
“I am extremely disappointed. I prepared under the best possible conditions, I had all the tools I needed, and I just didn’t deliver. It’s disappointing – I’m very sad and also quite angry,” the French skater admitted to France Télévisions.
In a strong position going into the free skate, Siao Him Fa said he felt “a little more pressure” than usual between his two programs. “I had time to process and prepare mentally,” he explained. “As time passed, however, I began to feel better. The six-minute warm-up went extremely well. I don’t know what went wrong, what didn’t feel right – it’s still too fresh for me to fully process.”
From the very first element, Siao Him Fa made an error. Could that first mistake have shaken his confidence for the rest of his program? “That first jump didn’t necessarily destabilize me,” he responded. “I was trying to do a quad lutz, but it didn’t go well at all. It was tough to get back into it after that. I tried to do my best. I gave everything I had tonight.”
