Nina Pinzarrone is eagerly preparing for her Olympic debut in Milan, expressing excitement and pride as she overcomes past disappointments and looks forward to fulfilling her childhood dream. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on Sporza.
Now that she has picked up her suitcase with Olympic outfits in Brussels, Nina Pinzarrone feels completely ready for the Winter Games. “You can feel it’s getting very close,” she beams. “It gives me a boost to train even harder.”
“I’m really looking forward to it. This is the dream that’s about to come true. It’s special to be able to call myself an Olympian at just 19 years old. I can only be proud of that.”
As a child, Pinzarrone herself was glued to the TV during the Winter Olympics. “The fact that I’ll now be on television myself is really crazy. I used to look up to those girls.”
After many obstacles and injuries, Pinzarrone was disappointed with her fourth-place finish at the European Championships. “But that disappointment stayed in Poland. I came back to Belgium with even more motivation.”
“It was a good experience and there are many positives. If I can train even more, the self-confidence will come naturally. I already have more now than before the European Championships.”
It’s not her Olympic routine, but rather the atmosphere and circumstances at the Winter Games that give Pinzarrone stress. “Those are all still question marks, whereas before a competition I know exactly what I have to do.”
“I’ll go to Italy once before the opening ceremony to get a feel for the place. Then I’ll return to Belgium to train some more. That will be reassuring, because I’ll have already seen it once.”
