Current European Champions Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov will obviously have to miss the European and World Championships.

FSRussia informs that Yuko Kavaguti got a serious injury at today’s trainings. According to their coach Tamara Moskvina, Yuko had a bad fall and injured her leg. Doctors diagnosed tendon rupture. So, they will obviously miss both main competitions of this season – European and World Championships.

Such a sad news! I hoped they could have two great performances at Europeans. They totally deserved to be on that podium!

I suppose that Evgenia Tarasova – Vladimir Morozov will replace Kavaguti and Smirnov in the Russian team for this events. You can see the performances of Tarasova and Morozov at Russian Nationals here.

So, with the absence of Kavaguti – Smirnov, Tarasova – Morozov been not so consistent and Stolbova and Klimov planning a quad throw…..I think there is a chance for Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot to take their first European Championships medal together.
