South Korea’s figure skating team, including Junhwan Cha, is making final preparations at the Four Continents Championships in Beijing, with Cha changing his free skate music. Here’s a translation of his comments.

Junhwan Cha had originally chosen the “Moulin Rouge Original Soundtrack” as his free skate music for this season, but recently decided to switch back to “Balada para un Loco,” which he used last season.

Cha explained, “I made the decision after finishing the national team selection earlier this month. I thought a lot about what kind of image I want to show as figure skater Junhwan Cha. I felt that ‘Ballade for the Madman’ aligns better with the message I want to convey. I also considered that singer Milva is from Italy, the Olympic host country.”

He emphasized that there should be no major issues since he has practiced with this music for a long time. “After changing the program, I practiced hard in a short period. Last season, I focused on explosive emotional expression, but this time I’m concentrating on honest and calm performance,” Cha said.

His recent struggles with equipment adjustment and ankle injury recovery are also progressing well. Over the past three months, Cha changed his boots more than ten times, which aggravated his ankle nerve and affected his performance. “Now I’ve found boots that fit, so training is going smoothly. My ankle has also improved with regular treatment,” he said.
