French figure skater Kevin Aymoz explained his disappointing performance at the European Championships, attributing it to emotional strain and a short preparation period, but promised to come back stronger. Aymoz finished 27th in the short program and did not qualify for the free skate. Here’s a translation.
“I’m writing this message while my emotions are still raw, as I feel the need to clarify my thoughts.
First of all, I want to reassure you: I am not injured. The pain is mostly emotional, not physical. Today, I have grown, learned a lot, and changed. Unfortunately, I once again failed to show at the European Championships what I am capable of.
The disappointment is strong, especially considering that my practices here went really well. The warm-up before the program was excellent; I felt comfortable and confident. Looking back, I think my preparation for these European Championships was too short, and I put too much pressure on myself.
But one thing is certain: I will be back. I will rise again after the European Championships – this is something I’m used to. Thank you for your support,” Aymoz wrote on social media.
