Tatiana Tarasova expressed confidence that Kamila Valieva will regain all her former skills and praised her resilience as she prepares for a comeback after her suspension. Here’s a translation of her comments.
According to RIA Novosti, Kamila Valieva is working on restoring her quadruple toe loop. The 19-year-old skater also plans to regain her triple axel.
Valieva is training with Svetlana Sokolovskaya at Tatiana Navka’s academy. It was reported that she may participate in the Russian jumping championships, which could be her first competition after completing her doping suspension.”
“I don’t like to say ‘if.’ But I think Kamila will regain everything she once had. She is an outstanding girl. That’s why she was disqualified – they realized that in the coming years, no one would be able to beat her.
I will be very happy for her, for her parents, for Tanya Navka, who invited her to perform in her show without any fear. Kamila recovered there. She is a star! She is still very young. And she is ours! It will be an indescribable joy when Kamila returns,” Tarasova said.

That doesn’t make any sense. There were three incredibly talented Russian girls in those Olympics. Disqualifying 1 of them wouldn’t have helped that vague “they” Tarasova is referring to because it still left 2 willing and able to take the gold instead. If she thinks someone would invest all that time and money into some international conspiracy for the option of a bronze medal, well, maybe she also still believes in Santa Claus.
Also, if dominance is dealt with by disqualifying people, why wasn’t Nathan disqualified? Or Papadakis/Cizeron? Or Ilia for that matter? They’ve all had much longer winning streaks than Kamila ever had.
I get why she’s saying these things, but at least come up with a good, coherent argument..
