Malinin won the U.S. Nationals, scoring 324.88 points across two programs.
“I think that, for now, no one in the world can compete with Ilia Malinin – he is a confident leader by a wide margin. I believe he’s here to stay for a long time. He is our genius of figure skating, and he can’t be compared to anyone. He’s unlike anyone else. And it’s very nice that he is coached by his father and mother, Russian people who used to work in St. Petersburg,” Tarasova told RIA Novosti.
