The Sofya Fedchenko Academy explained that their collaboration with figure skater Elena Kostyleva ended due to her lack of discipline and her mother’s interference in training, wishing her success as she returns to Evgeni Plushenko’s team. Here’s a translation of the comments.

On their Telegram channel, the Sofya Fedchenko Academy stated that figure skater Elena Kostyleva “only works when forced.”

Previously, it was reported that Kostyleva left the Fedchenko Academy and returned to Evgeni Plushenko.

The Sofya Fedchenko Academy: No. The athlete only works under pressure, for example, if her mother deprives her of food or punishes her. That’s not how results are achieved in elite sports.

Q: Was the process of the mother’s presence at training discussed?

The Sofya Fedchenko Academy: Yes. The mother was supposed to sit quietly in the stands. She did not follow this rule and shouted across the ice, disturbing other athletes.”

The Sofya Fedchenko Academy also addressed why their cooperation with Kostyleva was terminated:

“Lena is a very talented girl, but our paths in sports are different. We are ending our cooperation and wish the athlete success in shows and competitions!

The system of our academy is, first and foremost, about work: hard and meticulous work on all aspects of figure skating. Lena is used to socializing, shows, and a lack of discipline. Perhaps that’s her path in sports, but we cannot help her in that direction.

Reasons: systematic absences from training, failure to meet weight control requirements, failure to complete training assignments – specifically, the required number of full program run-throughs.

Additionally, Irina Kostyleva (Elena’s mother) interferes with the training process, does not follow academy rules, and disrupts the peace in our school.
