South Korean figure skater Chaeyeon Kim, after missing out on Olympic qualification due to injury, expressed her determination to persevere and grow from the experience. Here’s a translation of her comments.

On the 4th, Kim posted on her social media account:

“First of all, I want to thank everyone who supported me.

This season, so much has happened, and I feel I’ve learned a lot as well. I’m grateful to everyone who helped me gain these experiences and to those who helped me endure the tough times. It’s very disappointing, but since I truly did my best, I think I’ll be able to overcome it.

I consider this another experience, and I’ll work hard to make it an opportunity to improve and become a better athlete. Even when things are hard, life won’t break me, so I’ll hold on and endure without falling apart. Once again, thank you so much.”

On January 4, at the 80th National Figure Skating Championships and the second Olympic team selection event held at Mokdong Ice Rink in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, Kim scored 182.59 points and finished ninth.

With a combined score of 384.37 points from the first and second selection events, Kim missed out on the Olympic ticket awarded to the top two finishers, Shin Jia and Lee Haein.

Kim postponed her university entrance to focus on the Olympics, but was plagued by misfortune this season. Just before the season began in July, she suffered a torn ligament in her right ankle.

Before the second selection event, her back injury worsened, preventing her from performing at her best.
