Alexandra Trusova, Anna Shcherbakova, and Alena Kostornaia shared advice they would give to their junior selves and to today’s young figure skaters. Here’s a translation of their comments.

Q: What would you, as accomplished athletes and champions, wish for your junior selves? And what would you wish for today’s young skaters?

Alexandra Trusova: I always say the same thing: do what you want, what you think is right. I’ve never regretted that and never wanted to regret it. I wish all juniors would pursue their goals and stand their ground.

Anna Shcherbakova: I believe the path I took was exactly as it should have been. All the difficult moments, all the injuries, all the failures had to happen so that I could go through them myself and become stronger.

So, I would simply tell myself: you’re doing everything right, keep moving forward, never stop, and everything will definitely work out. Believe in yourself! That’s what I would say to my junior self.

And I would wish the same for juniors – believe in yourself, keep moving forward, don’t stop at what you’ve achieved, go through even the hardest, most unsuccessful moments with your head held high, and never stop believing in yourself!

Alena Kostornaia: I’m not an accomplished athlete yet, after all. I still plan to achieve more…

I would wish everyone – not to listen to anyone else, only listen to yourself, your health, your body, pursue your goals, and ignore any negativity. Really, just don’t pay attention to it – be like in a glass capsule: see everything, hear everything, but don’t let it affect you. And keep climbing to the top!”
