Alexander Zhulin commented on the International Skating Union (ISU) planning to discuss the admission of Russian athletes to competitions on January 13. Here’s a translation of his comments.
“I think it’s pointless, because in the world of sports, just like in politics, there is a clear trend of distancing from us. Unfortunately, I don’t see any signs that the English or the French, for example, will suddenly start to like us.
As long as this continues, the ISU’s position will remain pro-Western. And pro-Western means pro-European. Because of this, I am very skeptical about the situation. Although I would very much like everything to return to normal, so that we could compete with the best athletes in the world, which we ourselves are,” Zhulin said.
