Dmitrii Kozlovskii: “We believe there is no objective reason why we shouldn’t be allowed to compete internationally. We are just like everyone else, and we put in no less effort than our colleagues around the world.”

Dmitrii Kozlovskii called the exclusion of Russian skaters from international competitions absolutely unfair, emphasizing that all athletes deserve equal treatment and opportunities. Here’s a translation.
“I think the answer here is absolutely clear. We believe this is wrong, and there is no objective reason why we should not be allowed to compete internationally. We should be there; we are just like everyone else, and we put in no less effort than our colleagues around the world. We deserve the right to be there. What is happening is absolute injustice – this is a fact.
The ISU [International Skating Union] should not treat athletes based on whether someone represents the USA, Japan, or Russia.
As an international organization, the ISU should treat all athletes as representatives of a single whole, who move the sport forward and ensure that people come to watch figure skating at all, especially given the fierce competition with other sports,” Kozlovskii said at a press conference.
