Adeliia Petrosian, two-time Russian champion, reflects on not yet reaching the level of Olympic and European champions and notes that coach Eteri Tutberidze has become more understanding and kind over the years. Here’s a translation.
Two-time Russian champion and three-time winner of the Russian Grand Prix Final, Adeliia Petrosian, stated that she has not yet reached the level of Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova, Olympic silver medalist Alexandra Trusova, and European champion Alena Kostornaia.
“The previous generation was truly phenomenal and outstanding, and it’s clear that there’s really no comparison. For now, I probably personally don’t measure up to the level that existed at that time,” Petrosian said in the Okko series “The Tutberidze Method.”
Petrosian also believes that Eteri Tutberidze has become more understanding toward athletes over the years.
“Over the years, I think she [Eteri Tutberidze] has become more understanding and kinder to athletes. Because when I skated [in Eteri Tutberidze’s group] five years ago, it was a whirlwind on the ice. Not in terms of cruelty from Eteri Georgievna, but in terms of how our training system was structured. It seemed like we never stopped,” Petrosian said in the Okko series “The Tutberidze Method.”
