World champion figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva has officially announced her retirement, expressing gratitude for her career and those who supported her. Here’s a translation.
Tuktamysheva, 28, won the World and European Championships in 2015. Her last medal was at the 2023 Russian Nationals, where she took silver.
“Q: Two years ago, you announced you were pausing your career, but you never officially retired. Do you have anything to say about that now?
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: I think so, I do have a few words.
I think for every athlete, for every figure skater, figure skating is a little life. Yes, there were some problems, some difficult situations, but there were so many good things, so many happy moments, that I can now say with gratitude that I had a bright career, and I regret nothing.
I am announcing the end of my athletic career without regrets. Why was it so memorable, so bright? Because of the people who surrounded me, who raised me, who were with me throughout my journey – from the very beginning.
My father, mother, sister, all my relatives, the fans who have supported me since I was young – I am incredibly grateful to you. Without your support, without my family’s support, this path would have been much harder.
A huge thank you to Alexei Nikolaevich (Mishin) and my first coach, Svetlana Mikhailovna (Veretennikova), who guided me through experience and led me to medals as best she could. And to Alexei Nikolaevich, who not only coached me but also raised me.
I thought this moment would be hard for me, but actually, standing here on the Gulf of Finland, I made my decision and say it with ease.
Thank you. With love, Tuktik. Yours. Always, ” said Tuktamysheva in an interview with Vita Kravchenko.
