Irina Kostyleva, mother of junior Russian champion Elena Kostyleva, commented on the use of weight-loss drugs among figure skaters, emphasizing her daughter’s natural development. Here’s a translation of her comments.

“Lena doesn’t take any pharmaceuticals. Her physical development is progressing as it should. She spent almost the entire summer without any physical training and grew 5 centimeters. But I’m glad she grew without extreme training. Lena’s development is normal for her age – her weight, height, and everything else.

Girls with very thin bodies are surely taking weight-loss drugs, like ‘Semavik’ or ‘Ozempic’… I’m not sure about the spelling of the names. You can correct me… All I hear is, ‘This one is on it. And that one is on it.’ <…>

There’s no smoke without fire. It’s their choice. Their right. If these drugs aren’t on the WADA banned list, everyone has the right to manage their own health,” wrote Irina Kostyleva in her Telegram channel chat.
