Kao Miura (20) secured a bronze medal at Skate Canada with a strong free skate performance, showcasing his resurgence and building momentum toward the Japanese Nationals and the Milan-Cortina Olympics. Here’s a translation of his comments posted on Nikkansports.

Kao Miura, who was in fourth place after the short program, climbed to third with a total score of 253.69 points, earning the bronze medal at Skate Canada. This marks his first Grand Prix medal since winning bronze at the 2024 Skate America Grand Prix opener. “It’s been a while since I’ve won a Grand Prix medal, and I’m really happy,” Miura said as he relished the milestone.

However, reflecting on the performance, he shared, “The mistakes in the second half were frustrating, but to still score this much is a major boost for me.”

Miura’s podium finish demonstrates a notable comeback after finishing 10th at the Grand Prix opener in France. With the Japanese Nationals – key to securing a spot at the Milan-Cortina Olympics – on the horizon in February, Miura reflected on the importance of consistency: “I want to reduce the gap between my good performances and my bad ones, aiming for more stability.”
