Amber Glenn reflects on her short program performance at the Grand Prix in Chongqing, China where she landed a triple Axel but still felt it was not her best skate. Here’s a translation of her comments.
American figure skater Amber Glenn placed third in the short program at the Grand Prix event Grand Prix of China, scoring 73.04 points and successfully landing a triple axel.
“I love competing in China. My very first Grand Prix was here, so this place holds special memories for me,” Glenn shared. “Of course, getting here from the U.S. is challenging – it’s a long flight, especially at my age, haha,” joked the 25-year-old.
Reflecting on her performance, Glenn said, “Today wasn’t my best skate. In the short program, any mistake is costly, so the focus can’t only be on the triple фxel; all the jumps are important.”
She highlighted the importance of preparation in overcoming challenges during competition. “I think training really helped me – it gave me a reserve to rely on when something didn’t go as planned during the performance,” Glenn said.
