Adeliia Petrosian shared insights on her return to training quads after an injury, preparations for the season, and her detachment from online commentary following her victory at the Olympic Qualification Tournament and test skates in Russia. Here’s a translation of her comments.

Adeliia Petrosian recently competed at the Olympic Qualification Tournament in Beijing, securing a coveted spot for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics. She followed this success with appearances at the Russian national team’s test skates on September 27–28, presenting her programs for the new season.

When asked about her preparations, Petrosian revealed the challenges of returning to quad jumps following her injury:

“Was it difficult to perform the free skate at the control skates? No, not really. I wasn’t feeling 100% in Beijing because I was slightly unwell, but now everything is fine.

I’ve tried working on my quads again after the injury. I’ve landed the toe loop, but it’s still unstable, difficult, and uncomfortable for now.”

Petrosian expressed her fondness for skating in St. Petersburg but remained modest about her performances: “I always enjoy performing in St. Petersburg, but let’s not talk too much about the test skates. I’m not sure what the audience liked, but it seemed like they applauded.”

When asked about her competition schedule, Petrosyan said: “We haven’t finalized anything yet. I’m supposed to compete at the start of the Grand Prix series (Russian Grand Prix series – ed.), but nothing has been confirmed yet.”

Petrosian discussed the physical demands of her free skate:

“Q: Your program has a fast tempo. Do you feel tired toward the end?”

“I feel tired after every jump – ha-ha! You finish the program exhausted. It really depends on your focus. If you make a mistake, you feel the fatigue even more. Ideally, it’s better not to make mistakes, or else you won’t have enough energy.”

After her win in Beijing, Petrosyian received an outpouring of messages:

“Q: Did you get a lot of messages on social media?”

“So many. I managed to respond to everyone on Telegram, though it wasn’t easy. There are still too many messages in other social media platforms – I haven’t gotten to them yet.”

Despite the attention, she remains unaffected by online commentary: “I don’t care about what’s written – whether it’s good or bad. My mom tells me not to read it at all, but it doesn’t distract me. I can read a piece of news and immediately go back to warming up.”
