The pair of Yuna Nagaoka (20) and Sumitada Moriguchi (23), collectively known by their nickname “Yunasumi” participated in official practice ahead of their quest to secure a second entry spot for Japan in the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Here’s a translation of their comments posted on Nikkansports.
Nagaoka expressed her determination, saying, “We’ll approach both the short and free programs with confidence, aiming to execute each and every element successfully. We want to perform at our best to secure an Olympic spot.”
The Short Program (SP) is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. local time on September 19, with the pair set to skate 11th and last in their group. Moriguchi shared his optimism, saying, “We want to deliver a performance worthy of the Olympic stage, and our focus is higher than ever. By skating last, we hope to end the program with the best performance possible – not with unnecessary nerves, but by enjoying the moment. That’s what we’re aiming for.”
